02 / Food
One kitchen. A distributed food network.
Promethean treats workforce dining as industrial infrastructure. Instead of relying on disconnected food trucks or multiple small kitchens, Promethean builds a centralized production system designed to prepare thousands of meals consistently and efficiently.
The system begins with a central production kitchen near the project, which handles:
- Bulk purchasing
- Ingredient receiving
- Refrigerated and dry storage
- Preparation
- Industrial-scale cooking
- Portioning
- Packaging
- Menu planning
- Inventory management
- Food safety
- Quality control
- Waste management
Meals are then distributed throughout the construction site to satellite serving stations located near major concentrations of workers. Satellite stations receive, hold, assemble, and distribute food rather than function as independent kitchens. The objective is to minimize the time a worker spends getting a meal.

Optimized around the project.
- Workforce headcount
- Shift schedules
- Project geography
- Serving-station placement
- Queue times
- Meal demand
- Meals per labor hour
- Inventory
- Food waste
- Ingredient cost
- Worker preferences
Food designed around the work.
Menus are intentionally designed for physically demanding industrial work.
- Adequate protein
- Appropriate carbohydrates
- Fruits and vegetables
- Energy requirements
- Appropriate sodium
- Portability
- Hot-weather conditions
- Worker satisfaction
Demand data and worker feedback drive continuous menu improvement, balanced against each of these constraints.
